Case of whooping cough confirmed | Children

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Authorities in Pender County have confirmed one case of whooping cough in the area.

According to officials, a third grader who goes to school in the Topsail school district was diagnosed with the illness.

As is required of all students, that student was vaccinated but sill came down with the disease.

Officials are in the process of reaching out to anyone who may have had contact with the student.

Parents who have students in the school system are encouraged to watch their health closely.
