SURF CITY, NC - (WECT) - The Town of Surf City will be discussing their tent policy during a public hearing in October.
The town's mayor, Zander Guy, says that this summer the town had issues with people leaving tents on the beach. The mayor said visitors would buy tents and put them up for the week or two while they were on vacation and then leave the tents on the beach when they left.
He says that creates concerns, especially for those that run on the beach at night and anyone else who might not see the poles in the dark. The mayor says he doesn't believe that the tents will be outlawed, but says the policy and potential changes will be discussed. The public hearing will take place on Oct. 1. Copyright 2013 WECT. All rights reserved.
