Medicine Drop box in Pender Sheriff's Office

BURGAW, NC - (WECT) - A box for unused and unwanted medicine will now be permanently placed in the Pender County Sheriff's Office, as part of Operation Medicine Drop.

Officers with the narcotics division tell wect.com that the box will sit in the lobby of the Burgaw office.

Anyone will be able to drop off unused medicine that is sitting in their medicine cabinets at home.

The Sheriff's Office is located at 605 E Fremont St

Pender County hosting Spring Festival soon

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Pender County will be hosting its Spring Festival soon, according to an event organizer.

The event will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. May 3 at the Pender County Courthouse Square.

Friday night, festivities will kick off with a street dance, and on Saturday, there will be a festival with Pender County vendors.

Benefit concert to honor Kimberly Batchelor

PENDER COUNTY (WECT)- Sloop Point Fire and Rescue is once again reaching out to the community to honor Kimberly Batchelor and help raise money for her final expenses.

Kimberly died on March 7, 2013 from a rare form of cancer.

A concert that was planned before she died will still take place.

The concert is Thursday April 4, 2013 at Scotts Hill Baptist Church. Tickets are $10. Doors open at 5:00pm.

The Hoppers Southern Gospel Family Group and  Wilmington Celebration Choir will perform.

ROCKY POINT,NC (WECT)- A woman in Rocky Point is doing everything she can to find her missing dog "Homer."

Homer was last seen in the Shaw Highway/Highway 210 area of Rocky Point.

"There have been numerous sightings in the area and two trail cam photos taken of him since he went missing 1/1/13. He was wearing a black collar, with ID and rabies tags, and he is microchipped," said Susan Walsh, Homer's owner.

Come out for the 8th annual Easter Egg Hunt at Kiwanis Park

HAMPSTEAD, NC (WECT) - Come out and have some fun with your family at the eighth annual Easter Egg Hunt hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Hampstead on Saturday, March 30.

The hunt will begin at 10 a.m. at Hampstead Kiwanis Park for children in fifth grade and under.

According to a news release, you’ll need bring your own Easter basket to collect all the eggs, candies, and prizes available. There will also be a book give-away and a professional photographer to capture your Family Fun day!

Relay For Life of Pender County to host 'Swing For A Cure' event

HAMPSTEAD, NC (WECT) - The Relay for life team at United Methodist Church of Hampstead is hosting a “Swing for a Cure” event on Friday, April 26.

“Swing for a Cure” is a Golf Tournament benefiting Relay for Life of Pender County. This event starts at 12:30 at the Olde Point Golf & Country Club in Hampstead.
