Bay Breez' to start serving Friday

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Bay Breez’ Restaurant and Grill announced on Facebook it will officially open Friday, April 12.

The new family style restaurant is located on North Shore Drive in Surf City. It will replace Molly’s.

The restaurant offers everything from hot dogs and burgers to chicken and steak. Bay Breez’ serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Senior citizens will have the chance to enjoy a free meal Saturday.

The Percy Jenkins Senior Citizens Dinner will take place from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., according to a news release.

Join the Kiwanis Club for a wine and cheese tasting

SURF CITY, NC (WECT)  - Valentine’s Day is almost here, and the Kiwanis Club of Hampstead is hosting a Cupid’s Wine and Cheese tasting that will benefit scholarships for children that the club awards each year.

This event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16 at the Surf City Visitors Center from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

According to the news release, admission is $22 per person, and food and five wines are included with the price.

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Ticket sales are underway for the Topsail Chamber Annual Dinner.

According to the Town of Topsail’s Facebook page, the dinner will take place Saturday, January 26 from 6-8 p.m. at the Surf City Welcome Center.

Tickets for the event are $25 per person and can be purchased at the Topsail Chamber o by phone at (910) 524-2679.

New restaurant open for business in Sneads Ferry

SNEADS FERRY, NC (WECT) – If you enjoy trying out new restaurants, you might want to check out a new one that recently opened in Sneads Ferry, according to a news release from a town spokesperson.

Landmark Café is open for business at 316 Fulchers Landing.

The restaurant, which was formerly home to Capt’n Jim’s, is open from Monday through Sunday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Breakfast is served from 6 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

Business picks up for Down East Connect

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Business is up, according to farmers with Down East Connect in Columbus County. They say most orders coming in this week are more than $40.

Down East Connect has organic free range turkeys this year from Worley’s Family Farms. According to Chandler Worley, many farmers don’t grow organic free range turkeys because they’re too expensive.

Worley said customers can buy the turkeys throughout the holidays via downeastconnect.com.

There are nine drop off locations for Down East Connect in New Hanover County, Hampstead, Leland and Whiteville.

Silent auction to raise money for meals on wheels

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Pender Adult Services will hold a silent auction and gala Thursday night in Burgaw.

According to the senior center coordinator, the fundraiser includes dinner, dancing with DJ Craig Thomas and a silent auction.

All proceeds will benefit Pender County Meals on Wheels.
