HAMPSTEAD, NC (WECT) - Bryan Davis has resigned as Topsail's football coach. Davis informed athletics director B.J. Horne of his decision on Monday.
"He is fielding other offers but has no plans to accept them now." said Horne. "He wanted to give us as much time as possible to replace him."
Assistant coach Jim Clanahan will oversee workouts on an interim basis. Clanahan also serves as the girls basketball coach.
Davis will continue his teaching duties at the school.
Davis came to Topsail in 2007 after guiding Southwest Guilford to back-to-back class 3A playoff appearances. In his six seasons the Pirates owned a 40-30 overall record with two playoff wins, the last coming in the 2011 season.
Davis's departure comes when Topsail prepares to make the move to the Mideastern 3A/4A conference next season.
