'Click it or Ticket' campaign celebrates 20 years

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Monday, May 20th marks the 20th anniversary of North Carolina DOT “Click or Ticket” campaign.

According to the press release, North Carolina was the first state to launch this safety program in 1993.

The release also states, The Click it or Ticket campaign runs through Memorial Day weekend and ends on June 2nd.  During this time officers will cite driver’s state wide who do not buckle up.

House moving could cause delays in Topsail

TOPSAIL BEACH, NC - (WECT) - Topsail Beach officials are warning people to be aware of potential delays on Topsail Island early Wednesday morning.

Officials say a house moving will take place and delays could occur from 9am until noon.

Officials say the house will be moved from 1612 Carolina Blvd to 1311 North New River Drive in Surf City. Delays should be expected on South and North Anderson.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Lanes to close on the Swing Bridge

SURF CITY, NC (WECT) – The North Carolina Department of Transportartion is shutting down one lane of the Swing Bridge overnight starting Sunday, May 5 through Monday, May 6.

This closure will take place 10 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday, DOT officials say.

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Lane closures on the NC 210/NC 50 Bridge in Surf City have been postponed again due to snow and ice, according to a news release from the Department of Transportation.

According to the release, the lane closures will now happen Sunday, Feb. 24 and Monday, Feb. 25 from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. each night, weather permitting.

Expect lane closure on the Swing Bridge tonight

Expect lane closure on the Swing Bridge tonight

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Just a reminder, drivers should expect to see lane closures on the bridge on NC 210/NC 50 in Surf City today.

The DOT will temporarily close one of two lanes on the bridge from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., weather permitting.

In addition to the lane closures, the entire bridge will be closed for 30 minute intervals throughout the night, according to the DOT.

The lane closures are necessary so crews can perform routine maintenance on the bridge.

Lane closures on swing bridge rescheduled

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Lane closures that on the NC 210/NC 50 Bridge in Surf City have been postponed again, according to the Town of Surf City’s Facebook page.

The Facebook post said the closures that were rescheduled for Sunday, Feb. 3 and Monday, Feb. 4 have been postponed.

According to the post, the lane closures will now happen Sunday, Feb. 17 and Monday, Feb. 18 from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. each night, weather permitting.

In addition to the lane closures, the entire bridge will be closed for 30 minute intervals throughout the night, according to the DOT.

Drivers should avoid the area during that time if possible.
